Finding Strength in Community: My Work with Pauline Town and We Shall Overcome

There are moments in life when work becomes more than just a project—it becomes a purpose. My collaboration with Pauline Town has been one of those meaningful journeys, where compassion, community and action come together to create real impact.

Working alongside Pauline has been both inspiring and grounding. She brings warmth, dedication and an unwavering commitment to helping others. Her work is rooted in people—supporting those who need it most and standing alongside them with dignity and respect.

Our work in the We Shall Overcome community takes many forms. Each year, I take part in the annual Rough Sleep, raising money for vital winter provisions and standing in solidarity with those experiencing homelessness. These moments are powerful reminders of why this work matters and how important it is to keep pushing for change.

Alongside this, I run fortnightly food collections, ensuring that individuals and families have access to essential supplies. It’s about consistency—being there, regularly and reliably, for people who depend on that support.

Seasonal initiatives are also a huge part of what I do. My annual Easter egg collections bring small but meaningful moments of joy, especially for children who might otherwise go without. At Christmas, our appeals for toys and selection boxes help make the festive season brighter for families facing hardship. These efforts are driven by generosity from the community and a shared desire to make sure no one is forgotten.

What makes this work so special is the connection it creates. It’s in the conversations, the shared experiences and the quiet moments of understanding. It’s in seeing people come together—whether to donate, volunteer, or simply support one another.

For me personally, this journey has been transformative. It has taught me the importance of empathy, resilience, and showing up—even when things are difficult.

Pauline’s influence has been a constant source of strength, encouraging me to keep going and to always lead with kindness.

It’s a shared belief that together, we can make a difference.
