Walking with Purpose in Tameside.

Back in September, I had the honour of taking part in the Baton of Hope Walk in Tameside with The Anthony Seddon Fund, an experience that was as emotional as it was meaningful. Holding the Baton, even for a short time, was incredibly moving. It carries the weight of loss, but also the light of hope — a reminder that together, we can make a difference.

The Baton of Hope is a symbolic relay, the Baton itself represents both loss and hope — it carries the memory of those lost to suicide, but also the message that together, communities can provide support, start conversations, and offer hope to those struggling.

The idea is that the Baton is passed from person to person along a route or through events, creating a visible act of solidarity and awareness. Participants walk or run with it to highlight the importance of mental health, encourage discussion about suicide prevention, and raise funds for the charity.

Walking the route with my son, Kai, by my side made it even more special. Sharing this moment with him is something I’ll never forget.

Thanks to the generosity of so many supporters, I raised £400 for the charity. I also proudly wore a t-shirt for Oliver’s Awareness, standing up for children’s mental health — another cause close to my heart.

It was a day full of emotion, purpose, and hope. Because together, we can make a difference.
