A Charity with Heart; Purple Heart Wishes
I am a volunteer and trustee for Purple Heart Wishes, a charity that grants special wishes to terminally ill adults aged 18 to 55. I started as a volunteer in 2021, progressed to an ambassador role, and for the past two years I have been a trustee. With a strong passion for helping others, I play a role in guiding the charity’s mission and ensuring its work stays true to its purpose of bringing joy, comfort, and lasting memories to those facing terminal illness.
As a trustee, I help oversee the charity’s strategic direction, ensuring that every wish is fulfilled with compassion, care, and respect. I dedicate my time to fundraising and raising awareness of the charity in a variety of ways, from volunteering at Manchester City home games and music gigs working on refreshment stands, to taking part in and organising events such as the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, an annual charity football match, and the Snowdon Sunrise walk. I have also organised and taken part in a fire walk, completing it 40 times in honour of Lindsay’s 40th birthday.
In 2025, I helped organise a charity ball themed around Alice in Wonderland. I contributed to creating decorations and setting up the venue for an evening of wonder, before taking on the role of the Mad Hatter to welcome and engage with guests as they arrived.
This year, I am taking on three new challenges to continue supporting the charity. On 11th April, I will be stepping into the ring for an Ultra White Collar Boxing fight. In June, I will take part in the annual charity football match, and in September, I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
Through these efforts, I help the charity can continue granting wishes, giving individuals the opportunity to create lasting memories with their loved ones during an incredibly challenging time.
